Dinner at Turkaz

Tim and EileenTim, Eileen and I had dinner at Turkaz on Sunday nite, we don’t have much time to get together, and he is leaving soon for the west coast. Tim has 2 jobs, a bunch of activities, and too much to do before leaving, but I am sure it will all get done.

Tim off to California

Tim got on the 10:50 am shuttle for the Indianapolis airport, he is traveling light with just a pack containing clothes, pad/sleeping bag, his portable audio recorder, and a new Nikon Coolpix L12 that I bought just before he left, I couldn’t imagine him going out west without being able to take some snapshots.

This nest is now really empty, he may decide to move to California if things work out, or maybe to Chicgao, he made some new friends at Jesse and Sean’s wedding, and felt at home there. Or maybe he’ll come back to Bloomington, there were a couple of job opportunities that popped up just before he left, so that may be what comes round.

The California trip is exploratory, he will start out staying with his friend Jacob Sattinger, go to a hiphop music festival, and maybe pick up some work during the harvest season. We shall see, with both email and a cell phone with texting we will be able to keep up.

Tim gets an acoustic guitar

guitar.jpgToday Tim and I went to Roadworthy Guitar, and bought a Cort flattop to use during his guitar class at IU. Dave Bass, the owner was there, as was Rick Nagy, who plays oldtime. Dave knows me from CARR and the fight against new terrain I-69, his home is “in the road”. The Cort has a solid wood top (many starter guitars now have plywood, which sounds tinny) and it plays well all the way up the neck, with low action that does not buzz. We tried all the guitars in the lower range, but none of the $100 models played true up the neck. Tim has a way of playing octaves up the neck, and they did not sound right. All in all, a pretty easy playing guitar with punch. We got a free gig bag and t-shirt, all in all a good deal. Roadworthy rocks!

Ethereal Beats

timtable.jpgMy son Tim, aka Etheral, is a composer, beatmaster, rapper, beatboxer, keyboardist, bass player and audio/video recording engineer. Below are links to mp3’s of some of his recent work. Right click and “save target as” to your Windows computer, or a single left click will play them in most browsers. Mac users should know what to do.

Cool, Tim stopped by and left these 2 new links in the comments, I put them at the top, the bottom three are older.

Mitch buys a Windows box!

Turntable TimMy son Tim, aka Ethereal, has been creating wonderful music for 6 years using our Tiger Direct 1Ghz machine. We went to PC Max and put together a great machine that should bridge him into the Vista era. A new Core 2 Duo, just like a Mac, it will have 2 gigs of Ram and a fast 256mb video card. His 6 channel PCI audio card will go in, all powered by a 430 power supply. Our friend Zach Land got us through the process, it should scream for what he is will be doing, with room for doubling the Ram.
