New Songs

back-home-again-1.jpg I found a PDF of some old sheet music online, including the well known (Back Home Again in) Indiana, as well as the less well know (at least I’ve never heard of it) Back, Back, Back to Indiana, and one of my favs, recorded by Bert Harvey in 1919 with brass band\ragtime sound to it The Land of Jazz.

I once again googled one of our favorite market songs, Blackstrap Molasses. I learned the lyrics in the 80’s from Mary Dart who got them from Fred Park, who didn’t know where it came from. Well now I do! This time I found out that it was recorded by the vocal quartet of Danny Kaye, Groucho Marx, Jimmy Durante, and Jane Wyman, “Four Hits and a Miss”, and they it was done in a very swingin’ vocal style, probably in 1947.
