Ethereal Beats
My son Tim, aka Etheral, is a composer, beatmaster, rapper, beatboxer, keyboardist, bass player and audio/video recording engineer. Below are links to mp3’s of some of his recent work. Right click and “save target as” to your Windows computer, or a single left click will play them in most browsers. Mac users should know what to do.
Cool, Tim stopped by and left these 2 new links in the comments, I put them at the top, the bottom three are older.

Wow, this is a great graphic, found on Tim’s ftp site. Those who know my morning habits will understand, thank you BBC!
I feel somewhat guilty eating something from so far away, it is my intent to eat local and organic whenever possible, but as a vegen, I know the oils in avacado are quite beneficial. So at least for now: avocada, tomato, sprouts and mustard on an everyseed 11 grain bagel!

Hilltop Closing
Goodbye, Hilltop Garden. Unbelievable! How can this possibly have happened with no involvement or notification for IU’s community partners? Are we so opposed to Purdue that we can’t even have an educational garden at IU?
How many generations of children have first grown, how many families were fed through MHC’s gardening program? That this kind of decision made with imperious disregard for those involved does not speak well for IU’s administration.

Mitch buys a Windows box!
My son Tim, aka Ethereal, has been creating wonderful music for 6 years using our Tiger Direct 1Ghz machine. We went to PC Max and put together a great machine that should bridge him into the Vista era. A new Core 2 Duo, just like a Mac, it will have 2 gigs of Ram and a fast 256mb video card. His 6 channel PCI audio card will go in, all powered by a 430 power supply. Our friend Zach Land got us through the process, it should scream for what he is will be doing, with room for doubling the Ram.

Roots
I love playing at Roots on Wed nites, it is just the right size for my voice and guitar/harmonica solos. Every nite I begin anew, new people who wonder what the heck is going on here. After a few songs, they get it. All the songs about food, even if it can be a little of a stretch (Turkish Delight in Istanbul, for example), but all songs are vegetarian! Here is a link to my Roots list, let me know if you think of others I could sing there or at the Market, I am quite willing vegetize a few lyrics as I did with Frim Fram Sauce and I Had But 50 Cents.

Today is Emma’s last shift as a barisita, then all her energy will go towards preparing for Guinea Conkari and the backcountry life she will be living as a PVC (Peace Corp Volunteer, not plastic pipe!). Planting trees, organic gardening, native species cultivation, all these are possible after the there month training period in the farmlands inland of Conkari in the town of Forecariah

New Songs
I found a PDF of some old sheet music online, including the well known (Back Home Again in) Indiana, as well as the less well know (at least I’ve never heard of it) Back, Back, Back to Indiana, and one of my favs, recorded by Bert Harvey in 1919 with brass band\ragtime sound to it The Land of Jazz.
I once again googled one of our favorite market songs, Blackstrap Molasses. I learned the lyrics in the 80’s from Mary Dart who got them from Fred Park, who didn’t know where it came from. Well now I do! This time I found out that it was recorded by the vocal quartet of Danny Kaye, Groucho Marx, Jimmy Durante, and Jane Wyman, “Four Hits and a Miss”, and they it was done in a very swingin’ vocal style, probably in 1947.
